Here Are Some Suggestions to Help You to Get to Sleep, Naturally

A. Even though you may think that getting more sleep is better, the opposite is true, so don't "over-sleep." This may be the most important factor to remember and a good place to start with setting good sleep patterns. If you don't get enough sleep, don't try sleeping later. When you sleep later, even if you only do it a few times, you are resetting your internal clock and changing your cycle. Soon you will be getting sleepy later and waking up later. As you can see, this can become a vicious cycle that only gets worse.

B. God has given you all the tools you need to get a good night's sleep, including an internal clock, sometimes called the body clock. Light helps to trigger it and gets you going. Therefore, get some light by going outside as soon as possible. If that isn't possible, turn on lights in your home. Since our creator wants us to live as naturally as possible using all the gifts he has provided, use full spectrum light bulbs in your home that will furnish your brain with the closest thing to real sunlight.

Walking is also great to get you awake in the morning because as you walk, your leg muscles pump oxygen rich blood to all parts of your body including your brain.

C. Keep Active! Even though you may feel lethargic, being active is a great way to prepare for the next night's sleep. It burns off stress and naturally tires you out so it is easier to fall asleep. Try taking a good fast walk late in the day or doing something that promotes aerobic breathing and good circulation. Gentle stretching can even be helpful if you do it within a few hours of bedtime.

D. Don't take a nap, even though you may feel like a nap is just what you need. What you really need is oxygen and to keep going until bed time so that you will be ready for sleep at night. If you are sitting or staying still a lot, get up and move around about every half hour. Stretching often helps to relieve stiffness and keep those muscles toned. It will also help you to stay alert.

E. Your body loves a regular schedule. You get hungry at about the same time every day because you have been eating at that time for years. It is the same with sleeping. You can train your body to get tired and accept sleep the same way, so keep the same bed time.

F. Here is another trick that works well. If you are only sleeping 4 hours a night, then go to bed 4 hours before the time when you need to wake up. Then gradually start going to bed a little earlier each night. As incredible as it may seem, actually going to bed later the night after losing sleep.

Your loving Father in heaven wants you to sleep and to be rested, so I refuse no one. I offer you this help no matter whether you can pay for it or not. I ask for a donation to continue my work, but whether you can pay or not, please take the time to download the MP3 files or listen to them right from the page where you will find them.
